Responsibilities**Located in Fremont, CAThe Senior R Technician in
the Product Development or Research & Development Group of ALAM is
part of a larger team focused on developing new and enabling
products for ALAM. He/she will act as a mentor to other technicians
and will play an essential role in ensuring the lab is running
safely and smoothly, and supporting chemists to synthesize, purify,
analyze and package the emerging products for
customers.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:+ Lead
the safety operations in PDL lab by taking on active safety roles
in the R lab+ Independently synthesize small volume chemicals to
meet customer demands based on established procedures+ Build new
reactor/distillation systems for pilot scale small volume chemical
(SVC) operations+ Independently conduct various routine operations
such as synthesis, purification and analytical processes+ Support R
and analytical chemists with lab operations such as synthesis,
purification and analysis+ Independently run routine operation of
analytical instruments such as TG, density , viscosity, TSU, GC-MS
and FTIR+ Troubleshoot analytical instruments for routine
maintenance and other issues+ Follow the guidelines and best
practices related to lab notebooks, data storage and backup+ Write
work instructions, communicate experimental summary and conduct
safety reviews+ Successfully completes all assigned trainings and
tasks+ Ability to roll cylinders- Rolling cylinders requires an
individual to tilt a cylinder slightly with one hand, and use the
other hand to move the cylinder forward by rolling it.+ Fitness for
duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50 pounds and
have the ability to climb ladders.+ Actively participate on ALAMs
emergency response (ER) team including as an ER entry team member,
which requires wearing a tight fitting full-face
respirator**Required Qualifications**+ HS degree with 5+ years of
similar industrial experience or BS degree in Chemistry with 2+
years of similar industrial experience+ Experience with the
handling of air and moisture sensitive molecules, and hazardous and
pyrophoric chemicals including both gases and liquids+ Good
communication skills+ A team player that puts safety first+
Motivated to gradually take on additional responsibilities and to
continue education+ Ability to roll cylinders- Rolling cylinders
requires an individual to tilt a cylinder slightly with one hand,
and use the other hand to move the cylinder forward by rolling it.+
Fitness for duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50
pounds and have the ability to climb ladders.+ Actively participate
on ALAMs emergency response (ER) team including as an ER entry team
member, which requires wearing a tight fitting full-face
respirator**Preferred Qualifications**+ Experience with scaling up
synthesis to KG scale and above is a major plus+ Good mechanical
skills with experience building and assembling manifolds, reactor
systems, and distillation set-up+ Experience with handling and
packaging solids is preferred+ Experience with electronic materials
for semiconductor applications is highly preferred+ Experience with
analytical techniques such as TG, density , viscosity, TSU, GC-MS
and FTIR
