Boehringer Ingelheim Fremont is the
rapidly growing US arm of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Biologics Business
Unit. We are a fully integrated biologics operation with over 500
scientist and specialists, covering cutting edge early- to late
stage CMC development, clinical and commercial drug substance and
drug product manufacturing, medical device assembly for combination
products and packaging operations.
We are continuing our rapid growth,
investing over $200m into the expansion of our capacity and
capabilities, and creating approximately 200 new

Identifies and manages asset reliability risks
that could adversely affect plant or business operations, including
loss elimination, risk management an life cycle asset management
Leads efforts to ensure reliability and
maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities,
controls and safety/security systems, and applies value analysis to
repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions. Develops
engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems
that adversely affect plant operations, including capacity,
quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.

- Reliability Projects and Capital
- Develops, plans and implements reliability-based
projects and solutions, including determination and delivery on
cost, time and quality. In doing so, ensures sustained production,
successful product launches and customer
- Ensures effective maintenance and availability of
manufacturing equipment, by\:
- Identifying and managing production equipment
- Using and sharing reliability technical knowledge
for troubleshooting, investigations and
- Managing the reliability tactical implementation
plan for reliability improvement projects.
- Providing management with KPIs on reliability
- Optimization and compliance\:
- Ensures overall equipment
- Creates, modifies, and maintains reliability
program and documentation, including asset on-boarding
specification documents and SOPs.
- Leads BPE/MPE activities to ensure a continuous
- Supports definition and implementation of best
practice of reliability strategy program, through the Global
Engineering Network for automation and standardization;
participates in peer reviews.
- If required, contributes BI's knowledge to
national and international standard committees to represent
biopharmaceutical interests and progress.
- The job holder has a matrix team when acting as
project manager for investment projects.
- Represents reliability engineering in compliance
- Bachelors in Engineering from an accredited
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant
reliability engineering, maintenance strategies or operations
experience within a GMP environment required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience leading
- Experience managing risk to achieve an
organization’s strategic objectives in the areas of environmental
health and safety, asset capability, quality and
- Experience with tools used by a reliability
engineer to identify and reduce risk including PHA (Preliminary
hazards analysis), FMEA (Failure modes and effects analysis), CA
(Criticality analysis), SFMEA (Simplified failure modes and effects
analysis), MNA (Maintenance Needs Assessment), MI (Maintainability
information), FTA (Fault tree analysis), and ETA (Event tree
- Good knowledge and skills in biopharmaceutical
and Reliability Engineering.
- Good understanding of legal and regulatory
aspects within biopharmaceutical business and
- Good knowledge and skills in engineering of

- Strategic thinking, economic orientation and
business competence in planning and realization of investment
- Manage, lead and motivate interdisciplinary
project teams by means of technical competence, interpersonal

- At least one (1) year of recent automation
experience highly desired.
- Experience working on technical projects with an
interdisciplinary project team from planning to realization and

States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and
post-offer physical (if required).
