About the Role
The Technical Commodity Manager will be responsible for the
sourcing, cost, quality, and delivery of materials for Mattson
considered critical to semiconductor processes. The Technical
Commodity Manager will facilitate and/or lead projects and
meetings, working closely with the Mattson engineering group to
make cost-effective procurement decisions for the company.
Responsibilities:
Support NPI process with vendor evaluation and site selection.
Encourage and coordinate early supplier involvement in new product
part design using the suppliers' expertise to optimize quality and
manufacturability.
Work with strategic suppliers to demonstrate they have adequate
capacity to support Mattson demand, and supply continuity risk
management plans.
Prepare and manage Requests for Proposals/Quotes and coordinating
the proposal and selection process including driving implementation
of MSA/Contracts.
Identify and actively manage any supply chain disruptions to
minimize risks to Mattson's business, particularly associated with
end of life (EOL) components.
Manage the performance of suppliers on an on-going basis in the
areas of cost, delivery and quality.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for project delivery
methods, costs and quality.
Team up with engineering and quality to develop second source
options.
Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, especially
Sales and Engineering to understand their needs, and consulting
with them to build quality procurement strategies aligned to
business requirements.
Develop and manage strong relationships with key suppliers, dealing
with any potential issues and concerns, and attending regular
meetings to ensure open communication.
Develop and manage key process indicators (KPIs) related to
suppliers.
Plan, organize and execute Quarterly Business Reviews.
Skills and Experience:
At least 7 years of working in the Semiconductor Equipment
Industry.
5+ years of direct experience in commodity management.
Thorough and in-depth knowledge of the semiconductor manufacturing
ecosystem
Experience working with global suppliers.
Flexibility and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, very dynamic
environment with a self- starter approach.
Proven success working on cross-functional projects, completing
cost models, and negotiating.
Ability to data mine and consolidate results to develop consumption
trends, and future usage to generate risk buys, buffer inventories
or risk buy recommendations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to generate key monthly metrics including supplier spend,
single source positions, and cost reduction targets.
Ability to read and understand BOM structure, technical
specifications and drawings, especially on machine parts and
electromechanical components.
Familiarity with SAP ERP systems and purchasing/planning
functions.
Ability to take responsibility for multiple projects to achieve
goals and meet deadlines.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or
Business Management.
Master's Degree in business management or a technically related
field.
