Job Description:
Summary: The Adult Programs Coordinator is responsible for
designing, implementing, and managing all aspects of adult climbing
programming at Session Climbing. This includes creating engaging
curriculum, organizing new offerings, competitions, workshops and
events, supervising instructors, and fostering community
engagement. The position requires a strong background in climbing,
teaching, and event planning, along with a commitment to safety and
industry standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: [Note
that this is not intended to restrict the tasks that may be
assigned.] Develop and implement a comprehensive adult climbing
curriculum, including weekly classes, seasonal workshops, and
retreats. Organize climbing-related instructional classes for
various skill levels, focusing on indoor climbing, bouldering, rope
techniques, training, and outdoor climbing. Offer opportunities for
all staff to advance personal and professional climbing skills
including personal instruction and rescue education essential to
the function of any climbing gym employee. Plan and execute
biannual adult climbing competitions, maintaining sponsor
relationships and collaborating with the department heads and route
setters. Supervise, hire, and train climbing instructors to meet
industry standards, providing ongoing professional development
opportunities and conducting regular class audits. Schedule diverse
adult programs and clinics, ensuring alignment with other gym
departments and community needs. Obtain and manage permits for
guided days, reservations, and book venues as needed. Oversee
program safety, including adherence to protocols, gear inspection,
and compliance with industry standards. Establish metric goals
around program participation and adjusting offerings and marketing
strategies to meet those goals. Collaborate with the marketing team
to promote adult programs, engaging members and local climbing
organizations. Responsibilities will include but not limited to
creating emails and social media posts to promote all programming
responsible for. Manage and grow adult group event offerings by
generating and qualifying leads, developing scalable packages and
experiences, and building strong relationships with prospective
clients. Oversee pricing strategy, scheduling, and program
logistics to ensure events are delivered efficiently, meet revenue
goals, and provide a high-quality participant experience. Regular
attendance and schedule adherence. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruitment of new instructors and
onboarding them to Session (pending final approval from GM). Annual
Training safety measures among all adult programming staff.
Establish Quarterly 1:1 meeting with every employee responsible
for. Bi-weekly 1:1 checkins with GM in addition to bi-weekly all
department head meetings. Collaborate with General Manager to
schedule staff via organized, economical, and efficient staffing
systems. Maintain discipline and professionalism among staff.
Ensure staff quality by participating in assessment and evaluation.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Maintain and
continually improve a work culture of professionalism, inclusivity,
growth, and individual and collective responsibility. Regularly
provide informal, on-the-job feedback and conduct formal
evaluations of all adult program instructors. Create, communicate,
and update setting short-term and long-term goals for the adult
program instructors. Facilitate development and training for the
adult program instructors. Work with the General Manager on
addressing complaints, resolving problems, addressing performance
issues, rewarding, and disciplining employees. Requirements
