collaboration and innovation.Job SummaryThe Senior Data Science /
AI Product Manager is responsible for shaping and executing product
roadmaps that integrate artificial intelligence and machine
learning to address key business challenges and deliver customer
value. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional
teams to prioritize product backlogs, translate user feedback into
actionable requirements, and ensure successful delivery of AI/ML
features that are both technically feasible and aligned with market
needs. TheSenior Data Science / AI Product Manager plays a critical
role in driving product innovation by identifying integration
opportunities, managing stakeholder and consultant collaboration,
and supporting the development of business cases that align with
strategic objectives and digital-forward transformation efforts.Key
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Data Science,
Data, Informatics (IX)) and the Director, Analytical Workbench to
lead the development of the Analytic Workbench product vision and
roadmap in alignment with enterprise analytics strategy for
capabilities such as a data science/AI workbench, analytics
co-pilot(s), coding assessments, and visualization tools.
- Collect and analyze user feedback, market trends, and data
insights (including User Acceptance Testing results) to inform
product requirements and feature enhancements.
- Support the ideation, development, and launch of Analytical
Workbench product features, such as data exploration, preparation,
model training, model evaluation, model validation, visualization,
collaboration tools, and deployment that address customer needs and
drive business impact.
- Facilitate effective communication about product value
propositions and progress with internal teams and customers,
ensuring that products are aligned with market demands and
technical feasibility.
- Contribute to the development and execution of AI/ML product
roadmaps based on user feedback, research, and business impact,
ensuring features are delivered on schedule.
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI/ML into existing
Genentech platforms, addressing articulated customer needs in
collaboration with technical teams.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for collecting business
feedback and user enhancement requests, ensuring they are
accurately translated into actionable requirements.
- Work closely with Technical Product Managers and other
stakeholders to ensure effective handoff from product design to
implementation and validate successful delivery against product
objectives.
- Support the creation and refinement of business cases and key
success metrics for the Analytical Workbench, aligning tactical
initiatives with overall product objectives.
- Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the
conduct of Genentech activities.Who You AreMinimum Candidate
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or
an equivalent technical field.
- 5 years of combined experience in product management, data
science, AI, software development or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage tactical product initiatives
from concept through delivery with clear feature planning and
roadmap execution.
- Proven experience in aligning cross-functional teams (e.g.,
engineering, UX, data teams) to meet defined product goals.
- Proven ability to work closely with customers and stakeholders
to translate feedback into actionable product enhancements.
- Proficient in developing technical product specifications and
managing user acceptance testing (UAT) processes.
- Experience leveraging market trends and user feedback to refine
product components and deliver measurable business impact.
- Demonstrated experience researching AI/ML industry trends and
integrating insights into product strategy and roadmaps.
- Ability to write detailed, technical product specifications and
present effectively to both technical and non-technical
audiences.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies such as Kanban and
Scrum.
- Ability to innovate and foster experimentation to improve
product capabilities.
- Robust knowledge of enterprise architectures and solutions
(e.g., SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
- Relevant certifications in product management, machine
learning, data science, or related disciplines.Additional Desired
Candidate Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience (e.g., MBA or related
graduate-level qualification).
- Proven record of driving cross-functional initiatives that
integrate AI/ML capabilities across different platforms.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder
management skills.
- Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other highly
regulated industries.
- Experience mentoring junior team members or leading small
product initiatives.
- Advanced practical knowledge of agile frameworks with a track
record of process optimization in product management.
- Demonstrated understanding of workflow tools, automation
systems, and compliance frameworks.Location

- Relocation Assistance is not availableThe expected salary range
for this position based on the primary location of South San
Francisco, CA is $177,310 and $329,290. Actual pay will be
determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic
location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A
discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and
