Job Description:

Ardelyx is a publicly traded biotech company focused on improving the lives of patients by developing and commercializing first-in-class targeted therapies that advance patient care. Using our discovery model, Ardelyx scientists have identified completely new biological mechanisms and pathways that have enabled us to develop a pipeline of drug candidates to manage complications related to kidney and cardiovascular diseases. Our lead candidate, tenapanor, is a first-in-class small molecule therapy for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in adult patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. If approved, tenapanor could become a foundational therapy, completely changing the treatment paradigm in a disease state with significant unmet need. Based on our NDA submission in June, we are preparing to commercialize tenapanor with expected FDA approval in mid-2021, and a commercial launch soon thereafter.Corporate Account Director / Sr. DirectorThe Corporate Account Director is fully responsible for the commercial promotion of Ardelyx product line to selected payor organizations. This may include national and regional payors, PBM's, specialty pharmacies and State Medicaid agencies. Key responsibilities include management of account relationships with key decision-makers across payor organizations that optimizes appropriate coverage and patient access to Ardelyx product line. This also includes development and implementation of compliant and effective strategic and tactical plans for assigned accounts. Additionally, the Corporate Account Director will be responsible for coordinating field sales force promotion and pull through activities within their assigned payor accounts. This position reports to the Vice President of Market Access.In addition, the Corporate Account Director will:

  • Gain formulary access for Ardelyx commercial product line within assigned payor accounts.
  • Support the launch planning process for Ardelyx products within assigned payor accounts.
  • Lead the development of account specific plans that build positive business relationships within assigned payor accounts and ensure optimal access for physician prescribing of Ardelyx products within these accounts.
  • Identify key business issues within assigned accounts in order to assess impact or influence on Ardelyx product line.
  • Lead the development and negotiation of any potential contracts or promotional programs within assigned accounts.
  • Be knowledgeable and effectively communicate payor specific rules and promotional policies with Ardelyx field sales force in order to effectively coordinate pull through plans.
  • Effectively support sales and marketing and key internal functions by providing expert consultation on payor specific business issues.
  • Compliantly engage Medical Affairs resources to support critical Ardelyx business initiatives across assigned accounts.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with key decision-makers within assigned payor accounts.
  • Identify competitive threats and developing response strategies to ensure Ardelyx business interests are maintained in assigned accounts.Minimum Basic Qualifications:
    • Minimum 7 years' experience in national or regional payer account role.
    • Advanced knowledge of Renal business issues including reimbursement logistics both within provider and payor areas.
    • Proven track record of effective account management skills.
    • Proven ability to develop and execute account level strategic and tactical plans.
    • Proven track record of building and maintaining positive business relationships with key decision-makers.
    • BA required; advanced degree preferred.
    • Willingness to travel up to 50% of time within U.S.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without the need for sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
      • Previous payor account management experience preferred.
      • Previous team management experience preferred.
      • Previous sales experience preferred.
      • Experience in Renal field preferred.
      • Experience integrating health economics and Medical Affairs resources into account management process.
      • Experience in working in complex disease states.
      • Proven track record.Desired Competencies and Qualifications:
        • Advanced business planning and negotiation skills.
        • Strong compliance mindset.
        • Advanced team selling skills.
        • Ability to excel in start-up, small company environment.Work Environment:
