Job Description:
Our client is looking for a senior reliability leader who will
lead reliability requirements for our energy storage product. The
individual will lead and define test plans and test methods, sample
size, and lifetime definitions, driving the FMEA process to help
define priority areas across various aspects of the system.
Experience understanding reliability from a material science,
physics, electrical and mechanical engineering perspective is
critical and experience defining reliability requirements that
often would be at the interface of science and engineering is
required. The individual would look at reliability right from the
start of the concept stage of the product and would need to define
reliability requirements along various stages of product
development for components and subcomponents that are a part of the
energy storage system besides the system itself. You will be
working alongside an experienced team of engineers and scientists
to build products for a more sustainable future.
Responsibilities:
Define and drive reliability requirements for the product,
subsystem, and components, and first pilot units.
Own design for reliability, define DFMEA, test specs, plan testing
and provide clarity on clear pass-fail criteria for various stages
of testing in the product development process.
Based on test outcomes, propose/recommend appropriate materials,
components, and engineering concepts that minimize or eliminate the
risk of failure.
Develop/conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) and reliability studies
that would lead to an understanding of multiple variables that may
affect product performance and lifetime.
Define field reliability test plans and define testing requirements
for warranty analysis.
Ability to do root cause analysis and ability to define solutions
that address failure conditions.
Define/establish test methods and statistical process control
procedures to achieve desired product reliability.
Evaluate the current manufacturing hardware/software/process and
make recommendations for achieving high reliability as the company
scales and gears up for increased production and field
deployment.
Ability to analyze multiple types of products, subsystem, and
component test data and draw conclusions that provides confidence
in the reliability of the system.
Ability to carry out statistical analysis to test (accelerated
life) and field (life) data to inform reliability physics
modeling/analyses.
Build a data-based statistical approach to quantifying reliability
where sample size, test criteria, and significance of pass/fail is
clearly defined. Determine the statistical sample size required for
technical reliability studies.
Define an accelerated testing strategy to ensure that energy
storage components are designed to meet product and performance
requirements.
Work closely with product management, manufacturing, electrical,
and mechanical engineering teams for definition and execution of
test plans.
Qualifications:
BS/MS/Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
5-10 years of experience in battery hardware design, design
validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability, and
durability testing.
Knowledge of programming in scripting languages for test automation
and data analysis/post-processing. Experience in working with large
data sets. Experience with Tableau for big data analytics.
Working knowledge of applied statistics and experience with
statistical software such as JMP.
Proficient with applying FMEA, DOE, statistical analysis tools to
identify failure modes at system, sub-system, and component
level
Knowledge and experience with HALT and HASS/ESS for electronic
and/or electro-mechanical systems.
Experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation and
utilizing data acquisition systems. Knowledge of Battery Management
Systems and HV Electronics.
Proven ability to develop reliability and durability test setups
including environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing
highly preferred.
