Description: Responsibilities As a Mechanical Design Engineer- Interior Launch Systems in Tesla's Vehicle Engineering, Interiors Design Team, you will be responsible for design analysis, release and launch of Interior System Support Components, tools, fixtures and prototypes that will pave the way for future programs in the organization. This position will --- Design supporting systems for automotive component parts in CATIA V5 & V6 --- Interpret CAE simulation results and brainstorm resolutions for product design. --- Collaborate with key interior teams, plastic component suppliers, support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/production build events --- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Tesla Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement groups to ensure interior system manufacturability, assembly feasibility and serviceability. --- Release and launch interior components and subsystems which are aligned with program product profile hand in hand with Tesla's vehicle engineering design team. --- Develop and execute interior system requirements for one or more of the interior commodities --- Achieve customer-driven interior system targets for luxury, function, cost and weight --- Participate in iterative process with Tesla teams to deliver the optimal balance of form vs. function vs. cost --- Implement processes and quality to achieve world class execution of automotive interior craftsmanship and fit & finish --- Utilize DFSS methodologies (DFMEA, DOE, 6Sigma, Failure Analysis and DVP&R) to develop robust components/systems that meet quality and reliability targets, and at times develop these documents. as appropriate during the design, validation and launch of the program. --- Support in design optimization and issue resolution with the appropriate analytical and physical assessments --- Follow up with suppliers regarding system / part level validation --- Design, Develop, review and follow up Jig / fixtures and validate them for interior components. --- Analyze Field Reliability data of current programs based on it improve Interior Reliability through design/process/manufacturing changes. --- Interact and coordinate component / system Launch issues and part validation with design, quality, production and other relevant stakeholder teams. --- Create PFMEA, Control plan and execute them for all Interior Components. --- Define and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team. Prioritize team project work based on schedule, risk, resources, and payback. Track status of projects and action items against the schedule. --- Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for projects to the engineering leadership team. --- Drive, review and select of external equipment vendors and integrators for delivery of prototypes, Interior Parts and supporting /underlying parts for builds --- Assist in validating manufacturing processes to ensure product specifications and standards are achieved. --- Conduct Trial Preparation: Ensure part availability, testing and build readiness, obtain, and consolidate pre-requisite data, Data mining, analysis and derive to a meaningful conclusion. --- Complete Trial: Document observations, analysis, and results, make recommendations as needed and drive solutions. Record all issues found during trials and help drive to closure. Skills: injection mold, Catia V5, Catia, Design, automotive Top Skills Details: injection mold,Catia V5,Catia,Design,automotive Additional Skills & Qualifications: MDE - Will be designing Jigs and Fixtures for validating parts and assemblies for all interior systems Criteria: 1) This person at least needs to be a Bachelors in Mechanical or automotive engineering or other relevant branches with at least 2 years of experience. 2) Needs to have CATIA V5/V6 exposure and hands on experience at least for 1 year / 2000 hrs 3) All above positions will need the candidate to work on physical products and support the validation activities in form of builds , trials , line trials and production support.
