Description:Mission Capabilities Ground and Processing (MCGP)
provides maintenance and upgrades for satellite ground stations and
communication enterprises across multiple sites for a US Government
customer.
The RF Ground Terminal Engineer will be responsible for
contributing to a variety of Systems Engineering and Hardware
Engineering tasks associated with maintenance and design aspects of
the ground terminal systems. Maintenance tasks include efforts to
investigate and resolve Discrepancy Reports (DRs), system
monitoring and trending, and support to the site Echelon 1
operations teams. Design tasks include designing and implementing
upgrades associated with all subsystems to include Narrowband and
Wideband RF transmit and receive systems, Antenna Systems,
Networks, and Monitor and Control systems. Ability to travel 10% in
completing mission assignments at various locations.
This engineer will be a technical contributor to design, develop,
procure, fabricate, integrate and test required upgrades and new
designs including a mixture of COTS, MOTS, GOTS and custom designed
components. The components of the Ground Terminal Element (GTE)
include frequency converters, modulators, demodulators, fiber optic
transport, RF test equipment, ranging systems, SSPAs, ADCs/DACs,
network and packet transport systems, switches, firewalls, control
software, etc. The RF Ground Terminal Engineer will be a key
hands-on contributor to the GTE Echelon 2 Team.
The candidate will create appropriate documentation and entries in
history logs, discrepancy reports, and maintenance procedures on
items specific to any/all subsystem updates and activities.
The successful candidate will be a proven learner and developing
leader, able to acquire extensive system-level and specific
subsystem-level expertise, think independently in representing the
program at site installations and visits, and will pass on
expertise to future candidates who enter the program.
The successful candidate will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
after completion of training, and will aid in the maintenance and
development of operational procedures, creation, review, and update
of training materials, development of trending reports, and create
database inputs to support system operations.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security
investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to
classified information.
Basic Qualifications:
--- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study or
equivalent experience/combined education.
--- Active TS/SCI clearance and be subject to a polygraph
--- Experience developing and testing RF systems
--- Practical, hands on experience with lab hardware and RF testing
equipment such as spectrum/signal analyzers, network analyzers,
frequency generators, and multimeters.
--- Experience working independently in technical teams
--- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
--- Ability to obtain Security+ certification within 9 months for
system administration access to controlled systems.
Desired Skills:
--- Experience in RF communications and/or Digital
communications.
--- Radio communications experience to include a basic aptitude to
understand the dynamics of antenna tracking systems.
--- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills coupled with
strong interpersonal team building skills to effectively engage
team members as well as elevate appropriate issues to
management.
--- Excellent communicator with proven ability to work well in a
technical team
--- Systems engineering background or exposure which will ensure
success at designing and implementing RF subsystems within a large,
complex, real-time operational system
--- Technical experience in the following areas: Analog to digital
and digital to analog conversion, various radio frequency
communication bands, telemetry and ranging, up and down converters,
test pattern generation, network transport equipment and packet
inspection.
--- Experience flowing down system level requirements to create a
lower level product specification
--- Previous experience developing a test plan and procedures for
sell-off of a subsystem and hand-off and support to System
Integration, Verification and Test
--- Experience writing requirements specification and Interface
documents for subcontractors is desired.
--- Experience with MATLAB, LINUX command line, ELK Stack
(ElasticSearch/Kibana) and Windows operating systems.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate
work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our
employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day
work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules
provide employees with additional time away from the office and are
in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
